Data in just a few clicks

When you look for information that is online you end up finding it. If it’s on the Internet, it eventually ends up appearing. The problem is the amount of time you may need to find it, that is, the number of times you have to click to find out how many inhabitants your city has or what the municipal budget is this year.

The Viladecans City Council has created a tool to help users search for, visualise and download information related to the city, with a new Internet portal called Viladecans 360. The goal is to offer citizens and companies an easy, accessible instrument that helps them check public information already contained in the websites and portals of different government bodies. The new portal, which has just been launched, was unveiled in late October at the ESRI Conference, a prestigious national innovation event held in Madrid, and at the 2019 Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona.

A transparent site

The website 360.viladecans.cat contains data categorised in a very direct, simple, user-friendly way. This portal is thus a space of transparency, open data, knowledge and the generation of economic opportunities, since the data can be used to create services or support their contents.

The contents found on the portal include a set of structured data, information compiled in rows and columns which can be downloaded in different formats. It is prepared for inquiries or to be reused on apps or websites. It contains maps and interactive panels with locations, dates and interactive statistics. The data and the locations of the maps can be filtered with a click, and you can browse, zoom in and visualise the data in a more graphic way. You can search for information by categories – public sector, economic management, urban planning and infrastructures, sports, demographics, economy and trade, society and wellbeing, culture and entertainment, mobility, environment, tourism and safety – or by keyword.
