Elections to the European Parliament for the next five years will be held on 9 June 2024. In these elections, nationals of European Union countries who have previously expressed their intention to vote in Spain for these elections will be able to vote. In Spain, in addition to people with Spanish nationality, those from European Union countries who have previously expressed their intention to vote in our country will be able to vote.

These non-Spanish EU citizens resident in Spain may vote provided that they are included in the electoral roll in force for these elections and are of legal age on voting day. In order to be included in the current electoral census, prior registration in the Municipal Register and having expressed their willingness to exercise their right to vote in the elections to the European Parliament in Spain is required.

DECLARATION OF WILLINGNESS TO VOTE FOR FOREIGN RESIDENTS

Foreign residents in Spain can formally declare their willingness to vote in the European elections online, by post or in person at the City Council. The deadline for registering in the Register and submitting the declaration of willingness to vote is 30 January 2024. Declarations submitted after this date, including those that may be submitted in the event of a complaint about the registration details on the electoral roll, will not be incorporated into the current census for the elections of 9 June 2024.

EU citizens resident in Spain may express their intention to vote in Spain in the European Parliament elections (and also in the municipal elections if they so wish) online by accessing the Electronic Headquarters of the National Statistics Institute (INE) https://sede.ine.gob.es/manifestacionvotopermanente/presentacion using the cl@ve system.

By completing the formal declaration form, model CERE.DFA, available at IDA_CELEC > Documentation, for downloading by the CEG-02 Town Council. This document can be downloaded from the INE website at the same address as the previous link https://sede.ine.gob.es/manifestacionvotopermanente/presentacion. The accreditation of identity may be carried out, in addition to the foreigner's card containing the NIE, with the identity document or passport of their country of origin.

Exceptionally, in order to facilitate the expression of the will to vote in the elections to the European Parliament, the Electoral Census Office (OCE) has sent a communication to EU citizens resident in Spain in the last days of October 2023, with the details of their pre-printed registrations. The communications have been sent only to those who have not been contacted by the OCE on the occasion of previous elections to the European Parliament (registrations in the Register after 30 August 2018) and who have not made a formal declaration of intention to vote. This communication includes a telematic processing key (CTT) that makes it possible to make the declaration of vote in elections to the European Parliament online, without having access to Cl@ve, by accessing the electronic headquarters of the INE at the following address https://sede.ine.gob.es/manifestacionvotouectt

Those who receive this letter may express their willingness to vote in the European Parliament elections, in addition to the continuous procedures indicated above, by Internet, with the CTT, or by post by sending the reply to the letter directly to the Provincial Delegation of the OCE, with no need to pay postage.
