Mayor Carles Ruiz inaugurates the GreenCities sustainable cities forum

Viladecans is the protagonist this week in the Greencities and Smart Moving Forum, which is held in Malaga on September 20 and 21. Mayor Carles Ruiz, as co-president of the state network of innovative cities Innpulso, was one of the authorities who inaugurated the event, in which cities, companies and experts participated. Ruiz highlighted in his speech that "technologies provide innovative solutions to the challenges of cities that must be incorporated into the daily management of municipalities to improve the quality of life of the people and the environmental commitment of the municipalities."

SHARING EXPERIENCES

On the first day of the event, the mayor also participated in the Meeting of Urban Leaders, as well as in a round table to share the experience of the Viladecans Soluciona service, for the management of incidents on public roads with citizen collaboration through a virtual platform. On the final day of the forum, Carlos Ruiz is also a speaker at a round table on the sustainable growth of territories to improve the quality of life of citizens.

Viladecans has also been one of the references in the new space of the City Speakers forum, where cities make known how they face their challenges. Jordi Mazón, Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Waste and Energy Transition, has outlined the work to achieve the goal of climate neutrality in Viladecans in 2030 based on a Missions model with shared governance between administration and society.

The presence in this state forum is, according to Ruiz, a great opportunity "to share experiences and to project the work of Viladecans, which is doing a great job as shown by the fact that this year the city is a finalist for the European Green Leaf award", a distinction which rewards cities with less than 100,000 inhabitants that stand out for their trajectory and commitment to the climate emergency and for adapting to the consequences. On October 5, the winning city will be announced.
