Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park

Parc Agrari de Viladecans

THIS IS THE BAIX LLOBREGAT AGRICULTURAL PARK

The Viladecans district covers a total of 20 km2. Maybe that doesn’t mean much to you, but what if we told you a large part of that is cultivated land? A quarter to be exact. Begins to look a bit different, doesn’t it? You can start to see how farming runs in the city’s veins.

This important area is part of the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat (Lower Llobregat Agricultural Park), which Viladecans shares with neighbouring towns. The Park is some of the oldest cultivated land in Catalonia, with some 600 market gardens; an enormous breadbasket for the whole Baix Llobregat area

But is it only used for agriculture?

Not at all. Above and beyond its obvious practical functions, it is part of the natural and cultural heritage which underpins our relationship with the area. In line with this, the park offers a range of agritourism activities and educational visits, as well as hiking and biking routes so you can enjoy nature and the landscape.

THINGS TO DO IN THE BAIX LLOBREGAT AGRICULTURAL PARK

Located within Viladecans, this area is a testament to the great natural and scenic value of the Llobregat Delta and includes projects focused on organic farming, habitat recovery, environmental awareness and ecotourism. Experience the area with all your senses!

This easy circular route is almost 8 km long and allows you to get a feel for the agricultural activity in this important ecosystem.

As well as Can Comas (park headquarters and information centre), there are four more examples of traditional farm buildings: Cal Misses, Cal Monjo, Cal Parellada and Cal Xagó.

In the middle of the park, but located within the neighbouring district of El Prat de Llobregat, the farmhouse displays all the typical architectural features of this type of building in the region. The building was restored between 2003 and 2004 and turned into the visitor centre.
