Visit the Sierra del Montbaig

Views over the Baix Llobregat

Want to see one of the best views of the Baix Llobregat? Nothing easier: just make the ascent to the Sant Ramon hermitage (built in 1887) which offers a spectacular view over the area. Feast your eyes on the varied landscapes of Viladecans, from the Montbaig range to the beaches of the Llobregat Delta.

When you arrive in Viladecans, look for the unmistakable silhouette of the hermitage on the horizon of the Sierra de Montbaig (also known to many as Sant Ramon Mount). From the city, you can reach the summit via either the Can Menut or La Verdera trails. Just ask and we’ll tell you exactly how to get there! You can also find other interesting routes in the ViladecansAPP.

The climb to the Sant Ramon hermitage follows a forest path that winds through typical Mediterranean forests of pine and holm oak. Take a deep breath; can you feel it? Clean air! It goes without saying this is the perfect place for hiking and mountain biking.

The Sierra de Montbaig plays an important role in the rich biodiversity of our city that we cherish so much. That’s why in 2008 Viladecans Town Council signed up to the Local Government + Biodiversity Network 2010 coordinated by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and Fundación Biodiversidad.

The city parks also play a very important role in this environmental management strategy and we invite you to visit them:

  • Mas Ratés Forest Park: the city’s main green lung, occupying a total of 13.9 hectares in which a number of animal species can be seen. Did you know it was the residents themselves who pushed for its creation in the ‘90s?
  • Can Trius Forest Park: a number of trails crisscross this other urban park, allowing you to unwind in the fresh air.
