NextGen Youthwork

Hybrid and sustainable future for youth

The aim of the NextGen Youthwork project is to create a long-term vision and strategy for the digital work of Municipal Youth Services to serve as a platform to bridge the digital divide and ensure that all young people have access to the same opportunities and services.

NextGen Youthwork aims to develop and improve the digital work of youth services through innovative digital solutions at city level. In this way, the NextGen Youthwork network works to better align youth work with the opportunities and challenges posed by the online world in which young people spend so much time each day. Many of the important areas for youth can be addressed through digital work, such as mental health issues, informal learning, community engagement, talent and identity development...

NextGen Youthwork's approach is to offer youth services workers upskilling opportunities that allow them to effectively use existing digital platforms without the need to redevelop, adapt to the channels and platforms already used by young people, and provide to youth workers with the skills necessary to remain leaders, regardless of the platforms used.

The project is aligned with the city's policies and will contribute to achieving all the strategic lines of the Local Youth Plan: youth emancipation, leisure that promotes sport and youth associations, improvement of youth services and tools, support of health (also emotional) and gender equality.

The total funding of the project is 800,659.60 euros, of which 70.09% or 561,214.03 euros is financed by the URBACT program. The Viladecans City Council's budget is 75,283 euros, of which 65% or 48,933.95 euros is financed by the URBACT program and the remaining 35% or 26,349.05 euros corresponds to the public co-financing of the City Council.
