PUMA

Acting for the urban mobility

The aim of the PUMA (Plans for Urbann Mobility Actions) project is to achieve climate-neutral and sustainable mobility in small and medium-sized cities. The PUMA network wants to involve citizens and change their attitude towards sustainable mobility in a positive way, motivating everyone to get involved in improving the environment.

More specifically, PUMA's goals are:

  • Address the challenges of sustainable and smart growth in small and medium-sized cities by promoting sustainable urban transport systems and technologies.
  • Support the transition to a low-carbon circular economy by reducing reliance on private cars and promoting sustainable modes of transport that reduce emissions and improve air quality.
  • Improving connectivity and mobility in small and medium-sized cities by developing sustainable transport infrastructure, such as integrated public transport systems and intermodal hubs, and encouraging the use of innovative mobility solutions, such as mobility services shared.

Project duration: 31 months (1.06.2023–31.12.2025)

The total project budget is 850,000 EUR, of which 75.61% or 642,658.44 EUR is financed by the URBACT program (FEDER funds). The Viladecans City Council's budget share is 83,543.75 EUR, of which 65% or 54,303.44 EUR is financed by the URBACT program and the remaining 35% or 29,240.31 EUR corresponds to the City Council's own contribution.

As part of the project, Viladecans City Council will define, thanks to coordinated work with local agents, a set of actions that will contribute to achieving climate-neutral mobility.

The Integrated Action Plan (IAP) that Viladecans will elaborate within PUMA will be aligned with the actions included in the Viladecans Urban Local Agenda in terms of sustainable mobility (deployment of ZBEs, improvement of the bus service, creation and improvement of bike lanes and parkings, etc.) and will contribute to carry them out. This alignment, together with the City Mission to achieve an emission neutral city by 2030 and negative emissions by 2050, will ensure the city's commitment to implement the actions designed within the IAP.
